What is a Blog?


The word blog is short for "web log".

It's an easy and convenient way for you and I to publish content to the internet.

It's also an easy way for other people to read the content you and I write.

In fact, if you write a good blog (good, useful, interesting information), you'll get people returning often to your blog to read what you write.

The more visitors you get, the more money you'll make.

Write a good, useful, informational blog. You'll make money.

What do I write about?


That's a good question.

First, let me tell you what you may not do:

You MAY NOT copy and paste articles from other places!!! If you do, I will ban you from the site and will delete your posts. You will waste a lot of time and effort.

Second, what you should do:

You should write about what you know. Write about whatever you're an expert at.

For example, you might be an expert at:

If you can't think of anything you're an expert at, think of something you enjoy or are good at.

Maybe:

If you're still struggleing to find something to write about, write about something you deal with every day.

You could write about:

The reality is, you can write about anything.

It's your blog, write about multiple subjects! You don't have to stick to just one thing.

The main thing in deciding what to write about is to pick something you know enough about (or want to know enough about) to be able to write about it often. You also want to write things that are going to be helpful to others.

You should write facts, opinions, observations, reviews, anything you can think of. You can be controversial, you can be plain Jane.

Here are some tips for when choosing what to write about:

Also, you don't always have to stick to the same topic on the same blog. Feel free to write about whatever is important to you that day, or whatever is on your mind, or something you learned today.

Whatever it is, JUST WRITE IT.

Lastly, what you SHOULDN'T write about:

If you do, we'll just remove it.

How much & how often should I write?


As often as you can!

First, let me tell you how MUCH you should write.

The blog posts (articles) you write should be between 200-500 words on average. They don't have to be. An article could be a sentence. It could be a few pages. But on average, they should be between 200-500 words.

The key here is that the more you write, the more web visitors you will get on your site. Writing 200-500 words at a time means you write often.

Visitors = Money

I know, I know...You want to know exactly how often to write.

To that I say:

Write AT LEAST once every day.

You don't have to...but that's what we've found from our experience to generate the most revenue.

If you can't, write every other day.

If that's not possible, write once per week.

Just write as often as possible.

Remember, this is a "work" from home opportunity. It's not a "be lazy" from home and make a billion dollars thing. You actually have to write to make money.

If you write one new article/blog entry every day you won't have any trouble getting visitors to your blog or making money.

If you want to write more than once each day, go for it. I know that some of you are going to be sooooo excited about this new opportunity that you're going to want to write 10 articles the first day.

Go ahead.

Just make sure you post often. That's it.

How much money can I make?


This is a tough question.

The answer is... It Depends!!!

I mean, really it depends on how often you write and what you write about and how well written your articles are.

The reality is that if you write every day for a year (or, almost every day), there's no reason why you shouldn't be making more than $1,000US EACH MONTH.

The best part is, this is perpetual, passive income. Once you've written the content, it's there permanently making you money. You don't have to do anything to make money after that.

If you do it for a few years, it's totally conceivable that you be making more than $10,000US each month doing it.

If you just do it for a few months, you'll certainly make extra money. It's just hard to forsee how much.

There's no way for us to guarantee how much money you'll make for writing because some people will write better, more useful stuff than others. If you write junk, you're not going to make very much. If you write good stuff, you're going to make more.

I have a good friend who has been writing an electronics blog for a three and a half months now. He does a little research on electronics to write about and to review for others. He'll probably make about $3,000US this month from that blog. He writes EVERY day.

How ELSE can I promote my blog?


So you want to promote your blog, huh?

I have gotten soooo many requests from people for information on how they can get more visitors to their blog that I put this page together.

I'm hoping some of you will add your own $.02 to this.

Why would you want to promote your blog?

So, here's a list of ways to promote your blog: (these REALLY work)

1. Add your blog to your email signature


Every email program has a way for you to add a signature at the bottom.

The signature I use for email I send is:

That way, every person I ever send an email to knows that I have a blog and they know where they can read it.

You should add this to your signature.

Just add your blog url which is something like this:
http://www.blogburner.com/blog/YOUR_USERNAME
to the bottom of all your emails by adding a signature.

Simple.

2. Participate in forums/newsgroups


I guarantee there is a forum/newsgroup/online community for whatever topic you're writing about.

Participate in it!

Also, add your blog url to your signature there too. If you're participating in forums, add your blog url to your signature. It's an easy, unobtrusive way to promote your blog. Trust me, it works.

Also, by participating in forums that are related to your topic, you establish your self as an expert in that area.

Make sure you don't spam the forums!

Contribute useful content and this will be immesureably helpful to your success.

Just get involved.

3. Get links to your blog


Why?

Because search engines love sites/blogs that other people are linking to.

So how do you do this?

Email other webmasters and ask them to link to your blog. Tell them you'll link to them if they do, then put a link on your blog to their website.

That's one of the easiest ways.

We're working on this for you, but there's no way we can get links to everyone's blog.

4. Make comments on other peoples blogs


This goes right along with #2, where you participate online at other sites in your topic.

Read other blogs that aren't on blogburner.com. Expand your horizons a little.

When you make a comment on someone elses blog, that comment almost always allows you to link back to your own blog.

Once again, write useful comments.

DONT do comment spam!!!

5. Read other peoples blogs and write about them


Again, back to #2.

The strategy here is that when you write on your blog about something someone else has written about, add a link in your blog post back to their blog.

Bloggers notice who is linking to them and they will often see that you linked to them, come to your blog and read it, and go back to their blog and post another entry about the topic, but this time they'll also link to you.

You can get lots of traffic this way.

6. Use your keywords when you link to your blog


If you're writing about stock trading on your blog then use keywords related to stock trading when linking to your blog.

Don't do it all the time, and don't always use the same keyword, but do it sometimes.

7. Write Good, Useful Content


When a user finds your blog, if you have written a bunch of garbage, they're not likely to come back.

Write content that people want to read. Be informative.

People talk.

People tell their friends about sites that are good.

Blogging is viral...when it's well written.

8. Write often


There is no better way to promote your blog than to write lots and lots of content.

If you write often, you'll get more visitors.

Guaranteed!

Write as often as you can and try to stay near the same topic.

I know there are more ways to promote a blog. I know some of you have other ways that I didn't mention here.

Google Adsense


You need to create a Google Adsense account so we can make you money.

First, a word about Google Adsense.

Google adsense is responsible for the ads on this site. Bloggers make money when someone else clicks the ads on their blogs. Google adsense puts those ads there.

IF you click other peoples ads just to "help them out" or to try to make money for yourself or for others, you will LOSE your adsense account. Google will disable your account and it's darn near impossible to get another one.

DON'T PURPOSEFULLY CLICK THE ADS ON THIS SITE, JUST TO MAKE MONEY. That's called click fraud, and google doesn't treat click fraudders lightly.

That being said...How to sign up for adsense: They'll want to know your primary url (website). Put http://www.blogburner.com unless you have your own website somewhere else and want to put that as your primary url.

Creating an account is simple enough. Just click here:

and click the "Click here to apply" button in the middle of the page.

Google will want to know some personal information about you (so they know where to send the checks when you make money).

We only need one piece of information from your Google Adsense account. You can get this info by logging in to adsense and clicking on the "My Account" tab.

Then scroll to the bottom of the page where you'll find a section called "Property info".

Copy the "Adsense for Content" publisher Id (it looks like ca-pub-8094657240319059).

Then login to your account on this site (BlogBurner.com) and click on "my account". On that page click the "Edit" tab near the top, and then on the "Adsense Information" link near the top. Paste your publisher Id into the box and hit submit.

Once we have your publisher Id, we can start serving ads on your blog. You'll start making money.

Note: If you see both types of Google publisher Id, ignore the AdSense for Search. Use only the AdSense Code for Content.

Here's where we give you some tips to help us with our marketing.

When you write your in your blog, you should have a topic in mind each time you write. For example, if you're going to write about insurance, or, more specifically, term life insurance, you should keep those keywords (term life insurance) in mind as you write.

You should include those keywords in the title of your post.

You should include those keywords in the body of your post.

You may want to underline (done like this when you write), bold, or italicize those words in your article.

These tips will help get the search engines to send more visitors to the stuff you write.

Things you MAY not do:

In other words, just be sensical. Don't do anything dumb and we we'll be very fair with you. We also won't be super strict about stuff. If you are trying to be a normal person, and you mess up once, we'll forgive you. But if we can tell you're purposely trying to abuse the system, we'll do everything we can to prevent you from using our service.

Just have fun, be honest, and make money.

This seems like hard work


Really?

Maybe you should go try an MLM or Network Marketing company. They'll promise you'll make gazillions of dollars for doing nothing.

This isn't hard work, but it is work.

You can't make money from doing nothing. Such a thing doesn't exist.

Maybe you should look at the Google ads on the right side of this page. They probably are full of ways to "make" money. Maybe they even advertise that you'll make $300/hour. Go check them out. I'm sure what they're telling you to do is amazingly easy. The problem is that they just don't work. Most of them are scams.

What we're asking you to do is take 20-30 minutes each day and write 100-500 words. That's anywhere from a paragraph to a page in length.

What we're telling you is that if you do it you're going to make a pretty descent perpetual income from it.

Is this a scam?


Maybe.

But you won't know until you try it.

This is one of the most difficult things to do on the internet.
